Compact Disc (CD) + Digital Album"The Machineries of Joy 2015" is a re-issue of Tokyo's renown composer Kyo Ichinose's one and only 1st album originally published in 2002. All tracks remastered, and specially for this re-release contains his dreamy brand new track "Angelic overflow" which was composed using the sounds from the original recordings he made at that time. The CD comes with a renewed packaging as a 182mm x 257mm size full-color visual book, including CG images for each tracks produced by fine artist Jun Kosaka. Ambient, modern classical music, electronica... all of these genre names are useless when confronting against this eternal masterpiece.

The sort of music that is beyond time. The sort of music that you feel more than you hear. I love the fact that vaporwave/dreampunk projects like these have such extremely evocative aesthetics they directly fill your mind with sensations you didn't know you had. You'd maybe think it relies on that solely, but it's coupled with gorgeous musicianship + intense production ideas. The volume and spaces it creates just pull you in instantly whatever your initial mood was. Still stunning to this day.

This album is far beyond music, as it is almost only made from field recordings picked up in Montreal. Distant cruising cars, murmur of an ubiquitous crowd, humming subways, sound of children or various static noises, Tim Westcott processed and mixed these sounds to create a parallel living universe from real sounds. A hidden world behind our primary vision, made aerial and imperceptible thanks to the reverberation of the sound. A release hard to tame, but definitely rewarding in the end.
