An insane Shamisen player hails from Tokyo, Japan!!
Shamisen is a three-stringed, Japanese ethnic instrument played with a plectrum called a bachi. It’s construction follows a model similar to that of a guitar or a banjo, employing a neck, and silk (or nylon) strings stretched across a resonating body.
This old traditional instrument becomes a machinegun when he is on stage, playing over massive electronic beats which he also made.
Artificial Lover is a solo project by Kazunori Ohuchi and “Nava” is his first album. However due to his unique and
highly skilled live performace, he was invited and has already toured the US twice in year 2006 and 2009.
“Nava” is a studio recording comprising 15 tracks and he succeeds to package the heat and tention which you can feel during his live performances but at the same time, the album connotes humor and coolness that grabs your ears to listen more carefully. Another words, you can tell that he is just not a head banger but everything is under control and well calculated. (btw, his daily job is a sytem engineer and you wouldn’t believe from his music how humble and modest he is!) Anyway, get ready to be blown away by this real Tokyo underground music.
